Plan2Live V2
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Plan2Live V2 — setup, stems, pricing, and privacy.
About Plan2Live
What does Plan2Live do?
Plan2Live connects to your Planning Center account, reads your setlist or lets you build one manually, then generates a ready-to-open Ableton Live set with markers, song structure, BPM, and audio routing already in place. Instead of rebuilding your session from scratch, you open the app, build your set, and click Generate.
Does Plan2Live include stems?
No. Plan2Live does not supply stems. The app reads the Stems Libraries you already have on your computer and maps them into the generated Ableton set. You bring your own stems; Plan2Live handles the layout and routing.
Is Plan2Live replacing MultiTracks, Loop Community, or Playback?
No. Plan2Live is a session-generation tool, not a stems platform or playback player. It works alongside whatever stems source you already use. If you license stems from MultiTracks or Loop Community, or run tracks through Playback, Plan2Live sits upstream of that — it builds the Ableton set so you have less setup work before rehearsal or showtime.
Setup & Requirements
What version of Ableton Live do I need?
Ableton Live 10, 11, and 12 are supported. Live 12 is recommended. Any edition — Intro, Standard, or Suite — should work as long as it is compatible with your target project workflow.
What else do I need to get started?
- macOS 14.6 or later
- Ableton Live 10, 11, or 12 installed
- A setlist from Planning Center or a manual set you want to build
- Your Stems Libraries organized on disk
Do I need Planning Center to use Plan2Live?
No. Planning Center import is supported, but it is not required. You can also build a set manually inside Plan2Live.
How does the Planning Center connection work?
Connect Planning Center using the setup details requested in the app. The app will guide you through the Planning Center connection steps so it can load your service plans and song details. Manual set building is also available if you do not use Planning Center.
Privacy & Security
Does my audio leave my computer?
No. Your audio files never leave your computer. Plan2Live reads file paths from your Stems Libraries locally and references them inside the generated Ableton set. No audio data is uploaded to any server.
Is my Planning Center password stored by Plan2Live?
Plan2Live stores the Planning Center connection details you set up in the app locally on your Mac. The app will guide you through the Planning Center connection steps, and manual set building is also available if you do not use Planning Center.
What data does Plan2Live collect?
Plan2Live collects only what is necessary to run the service: your account email, subscription status, and generation usage counts. Audio files, Planning Center credentials, and local file paths are never transmitted. See the Privacy Policy for the full details.
Stems Libraries
What are Stems Libraries?
Stems Libraries are the folders on your computer where your song stem files live. In Plan2Live V2, you point the app to one or more Stems Libraries, and it searches those folders when building your set. Each song should have its own folder following the naming format
Song Title - Key - BPM so the app can match it to the correct song in your set.Does my Stems Library folder name format matter?
Yes. Plan2Live matches song folders by name against your Planning Center import or manual set entries. Use the format
Song Title - Key - BPM (for example, Firm Foundation - G - 98bpm). Avoid parentheses, brackets, or other special characters — the app will not recognize folders that contain them. The song title must match the song title you are building from. See the Manual for the full naming rules and examples.Guide Analysis Labels & Planning Center Labels
What are Guide Analysis Labels?
Guide Analysis Labels are markers that Plan2Live places in your Ableton set based on the song guide track. They label song sections — intro, verse, chorus, bridge, outro, and so on — so your session is navigable from the moment you open it. Guide Analysis Labels are available on every plan, including Free.
What are Planning Center Labels?
Planning Center Labels pull item notes and section labels directly from your Planning Center plan and place them as markers in the Ableton set. This means the language your team uses in Planning Center shows up in Ableton without manual re-entry.
