Type the setlist. Get the Ableton set.

Plan2Live builds the Ableton Live set for your gig from the backing tracks you already own: the songs in the order you'll play them, each with its own key, tempo and time signature, ready to rehearse.

Mac only (macOS 14.6 or later, Apple Silicon or Intel) · Ableton Live Standard or Suite

Plan2Live
A typed setlist in Plan2Live: each song with its key, tempo and time signature, its stems folder found, and the spoken section cues detected.

How it works

  1. Type the night's setlist

Add the songs in the order you'll play them. Each one is just a title, key, tempo and time signature (4/4, 3/4 or 6/8).

  2. Point at your tracks

Choose the folders on your Mac where your stems live: one folder per song, named after the song. A key and tempo in the folder name help when you keep a song in two keys.

  3. Build, open, rehearse

Click Generate and open the set in Ableton Live. New setlist next week? Type it in and build again.

What's in the set

  • Every song in your set order, in Arrangement View, with its own tempo and time signature.
  • Your stems on the set's tracks, one song after another.
  • Your click and guide stems on the set's Click and Guide tracks. The built-in template doesn't make a click, so bring a click stem.
  • Section markers named from the spoken cues on your guide track (English, Spanish or Portuguese; tested on Apple Silicon Macs). No spoken cues? Then the markers are numbered or placeholders, and you can rename them in Live.

What it doesn't do

  • It runs on a Mac only.
  • It builds in Arrangement View, not Session View.
  • It doesn't supply backing tracks. You bring your own.
  • It doesn't play the set. You run it in Ableton Live.
  • It needs Ableton Live Standard or Suite. Intro and Lite allow too few tracks for the built-in template.

Your own template (beta)

Got your own Ableton Live 12 template? Custom Templates (beta) builds the set into it, in Arrangement View. It has been tested on a limited set of rigs so far, so try it with your rig well before a gig. It's open on every plan in the beta.

What it costs

  • Try 2 full builds free, no card, no time limit.
  • Plus and Pro come with Guide analysis (section markers from your Guide's spoken cues), tempo automation (each song's tempo and time signature in the set), stem transpose (stems moved to the song's key) and stem auto-wire (every stem on its own track). Your free builds get every one of them too.
  • Plus is $69 a year (or $7/mo) for 20 builds a month. Over 50 gigs a year, $69 is about $1.38 a gig.
  • Pro is $129 a year (or $16/mo) for 50 builds a month, and Project History keeps every set you've built, ready to reopen.

Questions

Do I need Planning Center?

No. You type your setlist into Plan2Live. If your team already plans in Planning Center, importing a plan fills the whole set at once.

Does Plan2Live play the tracks at the gig?

No. It builds the Ableton Live set, and you play it in Ableton Live like a set you made yourself.

Will my click be in the set?

If you bring a click stem, it goes on the set's Click track. The built-in template doesn't make a click of its own.

Which Ableton Live do I need?

Ableton Live Standard or Suite. Intro allows 16 audio and MIDI tracks and Lite allows 8, and the built-in template has 22, so they're too small for it.
