Plan2Live

How to use Plan2Live™

Plan2Live helps you turn your Planning Center setlist into a ready-to-open Ableton Live set.

What you need

  • macOS 26+
  • Ableton Live 10, 11, or 12 installed
  • Planning Center account access

Typical workflow

  1. 1. Open Plan2Live.
  2. 2. Connect Planning Center in the app.
  3. 3. Select the plan or setlist you want to build.
  4. 4. Confirm the song order before generating.
  5. 5. Click Generate.
  6. 6. Open the generated Ableton set.
  7. 7. Do a quick verification pass: check markers or locators, BPM, and routing before rehearsal or playback.

Locked default template

Plan2Live currently generates each set using the built-in default template for consistency. You do not need to bring your own template in this version.

Before you generate

  • Make sure the plan order is correct.
  • Fill in BPM values where possible so the generated set is easier to verify.

Stem folder labeling

Recommended rules

  • Use one folder per song.
  • Follow the exact format: Song Title - Key - BPM
  • Do not use parentheses ( ), brackets [ ], or other special characters — the app will not recognize folders that contain them.
  • Match the song title in Planning Center exactly.

Good folder name examples

  • Praise - A - 127bpm
  • Firm Foundation - G - 98bpm
  • King of Kings - B - 72bpm
  • 01 - Firm Foundation - G - 98bpm

Recommended stem file names inside each song folder

  • Kick, Snare, OH
  • Bass
  • GTR1, GTR2
  • Keys, Pads
  • Lead Vox, BGV
  • Click, Guide

Common mistakes

  • Using parentheses or brackets — e.g. Firm Foundation (Key of G). The app will not recognize these folders.
  • Spelling differences compared with the song title in Planning Center.
  • Missing the key or BPM — both are required in the folder name.
  • Inconsistent numbering or formatting from one week to the next.
  • Putting all songs together in one folder instead of one folder per song.

Best practice

Keep your naming consistent across weeks and use the same punctuation and case each time.

After generation

  1. 1. Open the set in Ableton Live.
  2. 2. Save and collect all files if you plan to move the set to another machine.
  3. 3. Run a quick soundcheck before using it live.

Troubleshooting

  • If the set is wrong, fix the plan in Planning Center and generate again.
  • If routing looks wrong, make sure you are using the built-in default template in this version and not an older custom workflow.
  • If macOS will not open the app, follow the steps on /docs.
